WHY PERSONAL BRAND MATTERS

We live in a day and age where most people don't leave high school or college to get a corporate job and stay working for that company for the next 30-40 years.

Today our companies get bought out at a moments notice, positions get “absorbed” into obsolescent, and big corporate has nobody’s back other than their shareholders.

This “dog eat dog” mentality flows over onto you, the workforce. You must look out for you. Make the contacts, connections, and leads that will grow your career wherever that may lead. And that is what a personal brand does.

You need a personal brand because you never know where life will lead. You never know when that connection or acquaintance or friend of an acquaintance will be the next jumping board to making your dreams a reality.

A personal brand goes beyond a stellar personality.

Think of it this way, you are the CEO of YOUR LIFE. How you create and nurture relationships, what you give back, how you contribute to others, your strengths, your “weaknesses” are all part of you. You share about some behind the scenes stuff, but you don't “show how the sausage is made.”

A personal brand is all the best of you with your “negatives” positioned to be strengths and not weaknesses. It skirts your personal life, but there are still elements that you keep private.

A personal brand can be an official website or it can be just great personal relationships where you reach out to people to stay connected.
